Bat Cave, Chimney Rock, NC, February 15, 2008

The weather was a little hazy this morning. We visited with Linda’s dogs.

We were on our way to surprise my Aunt Sheila and Uncle Stan, but they weren’t home, so we continued on to Bat Cave, the town my dad grew up in. Jesse became obsessed with having to see Bat Cave because of its odd name. Although it’s really small, there’s actually a sign for it off of the highway.

There wasn’t much to see. We bought a few postcards and headed off to Chimney Rock. If the weather wasn’t so gray and dreary, we may have actually gone to the top of Chimney Rock, but it was $14/person and we decided we would have a chance to stop back through and hope for better weather. We grabbed lunch at a little cafe that was in town, though, and later checked out the creek bed below.

We left Chimney Rock and returned to Linda’s for a short nap. Afterward, Jesse and I made dinner. We sat around chatting for a few hours and turned in for sleep.
